Make Your Own Damn Sandwich (2018) is an attempt to critique the objectification of women by use of comical gesture.
As the objectified, I am critiquing the male gaze and systematic mistreatment of the female body. By critiquing the idea of the saying "make me a sandwich", I am speaking on occurrences in popular culture that are considered acts of abuse but are spoken with a comical tonality. My approach includes dropping, throwing, cutting as a symbol of my internalized anger towards treatment against the female canon.
As an objectifier, I approach my audience with acts of sexual gesture. I am personally touching, rubbing food as if it were a sexual object. My gestural acts are the critique of the male and female gaze as an attempt to communicate the idea that sexualized objectification is everywhere including in the food we eat.
The "sexual experience" is communicated through visual, and auditory approaches which include but are not limited to the use of digital manipulation. This is all in attempt to communicate the object, the viewer, and the camera. It may be a pass/fail attempt but I believe the experience is of value above many other technical issue.
